Anti-science education legislation in the 2024 Oklahoma legislature

Three creationist bills were introduced for the 2024 session.  HB 3122 by Williams and the identical HB 3543 by Conley in the House.  Both are named “Oklahoma Freedom of Religious Expression Act”.  Both bills explicitly allow the teaching of intelligent design in public school science classes.  In the Senate, SB 1871 by Bullard has a stripped down version of his usual creationist bill that allows the teaching of creationism or intelligent design in public school science classes.  It is a teach both sides bill.  HB 3122 and HB 3543 have been assigned to the House Budget Education subcommittee.  SB 1871 has been assigned to the Senate Education Committee.  SB 3122 was moved to the House Children, Youth, and Family Sciences Committee.  None of the bills passed out of committee before the deadline, so all are now dead.  More at NCSE here , here, and here.
